made a spiderverse portrait for my spider-xina au, did an actual front/back for her costume, and a few lil comics! one angsty and one extremely fluffy.
One of my favorite things is learning what words people used for this hand game—where you sit in a circle with your hands facing up, right hand on top of your neighbor’s, left hand below your other neighbor’s, and you sequentially go around slapping right hand into left— where they lived when they were kids. The regional variations are the best. It’s in Wikipedia as “Stella Ella Ola,” but for me (and many NE USAmericans) it’s “Quack Diddly Oso.”
The way these games are taught to younger kids by older kids and spread throughout regions is so fascinating; I want a visualization where you can see what happens when one random kid 50 years ago moved to a different state. I have no idea how widespread this game is, but I think it’s all across the US and Canada, at a minimum. I haven’t seen my kids play this—is it still a thing?
I especially appreciate the versions that include “your mother smells like pizza,” “the toilet over fulled,” and “the cat peed on the floor,” “potatoes on the floor-a”
What about you? Anyone play it outside of North America?
everyone who played “down by the banks,” I feel sorry for you that you had such a boring version
it’s been said so many times but it IS genuinely depressing to talk about how cosmetics are predatory and meant to make women more consumable and are pushed. but there always has to be someone saying “well i LIKE wearing makeup and look good in it so actually it’s empowering and if you critique this multi-billion dollar industry and its insidious nature you’re anti-feminist/hate women :/” like. We are not getting out of this alive, i fear
that’s soo great that eyeliner is empowering for you. I’m sure the company that created it cares about that. making you feel validated. not your money and making you into an image or anything
Reblog to assess who is a friend and who is an enemy
There is no secret fourth. If you like all of them, pick one. If you like none of them, pick one. If you dont know what pizza is look at the pictures. No none of the above. Fight. Kill
what, pray tell, is the actual evidence that jwst has provided against the big bang? if new evidence is somehow leading away from this theory, then why has there been no wider discussion on it? it would have been making headlines (at least, on science news sites)
“is dead” is hyperbolic especially considering the big bang theory has been affirmed time and time again - you need quite extraordinary evidence to not only cast serious, genuine doubt on it, but you need extraordinary evidence to go as far as to say it’s “dead.” again, where is this evidence? it would have been making headlines
by saying that the cosmological crisis is solved by there being no such thing as the big bang, and no such thing as redshift caused by expansion, then you are literally saying that the universe is not expanding - again, a quite extraordinary claim, since the expansion of the universe has been well documented, well researched, and well proven for literally 96 years
it’s to the point where it’s called hubble’s LAW. it is a LAW.
if the big bang didn’t happen, then how do you explain the abundance of elements 75% H and 25% He (negligible metals)? if the big bang didn’t happen, then how do you explain the cosmic microwave background? if the big bang didn’t happen, and therefore the universe is not expanding, then how do you explain the observed redshifts of literally every single object in the universe except for a handful of nearby ones?
you’re saying that “only blue shift is due to motion” therefore implying that redshift is just like, the default state of things? but like, the very nature of what blueshift IS, is that redshift is also due to motion. you cannot have blueshift without redshift. you’re invalidating another law here - doppler effect
literally by the definition of blueshift and redshift from the doppler effect, then how could the default state of things be redshift, if not for the fact that they are moving away from us ?!?!?!
and how could the default state of things be that literally everything in the universe is moving away from us, and moving away from all other points in space equally, if not for the fact that the universe is expanding ?!?!?!
and no other alternative theories are able to consistently explain the given parameters of our observed universe as accurately as the big bang theory does - again, it’s not even just expansion, it’s also the cmb and it’s the relative abundances of elements.
The James Webb Space Telescope has just completed a successful first year of science. Let’s celebrate by seeing the birth of Sun-like stars in this brand-new image from the Webb telescope!
This is a small star-forming region in the Rho Ophiuchi cloud complex. At 390 light-years away, it’s the closest star-forming region to Earth. There are around 50 young stars here, all of them similar in mass to the Sun, or smaller. The darkest areas are the densest, where thick dust cocoons still-forming protostars. Huge red bipolar jets of molecular hydrogen dominate the image, appearing horizontally across the upper third and vertically on the right. These occur when a star first bursts through its natal envelope of cosmic dust, shooting out a pair of opposing jets into space like a newborn first stretching her arms out into the world. In contrast, the star S1 has carved out a glowing cave of dust in the lower half of the image. It is the only star in the image that is significantly more massive than the Sun.
Thanks to Webb’s sensitive instruments, we get to witness moments like this at the beginning of a star’s life. One year in, Webb’s science mission is only just getting started. The second year of observations has already been selected, with plans to build on an exciting first year that exceeded expectations. Here’s to many more years of scientific discovery with Webb.

Ppl keep taking relationships that are so obviously sicko4sicko and making one of them like normal or the straightman or whatever. Stop doing this
[ID: drawing of a comparison between a relationship in “canon” and “fanon.” “canon” is a drawing of two figures with very evil smiles, holding hands and both labeled “sicko” in all caps. “fanon” is a drawing of one figure with a friendly expression crouching down and holding a second figure, on all fours with wide shiny eyes, on a leash wrapped around their neck. the one holding the leash is saying “this is my pet freak, but I can fix him,” with a heart. end ID]
(with m/f pairings its like, Always the guy being the “weird” one and the girl being the “sensible” one too)
